GNOME - The little GTK desktop environment that could

My Current Desktop
The Desktop of champions

I love KDE. Most of my first year using linux was a combination of KDE or Fluxbox. During this past month I received my 10 copies of Ubuntu and I decided to give it a try. At first I was shocked to discover that it only came with GNOME. "GNOME is a slow piece of shit" I reminded myself , and its true, on an old machine there is quite a difference in speed between QT and GTK applications (KDE uses QT, GNOME uses GTK). Nevertheless I decided to use it and know I sort of like it. Of course KDE still kicks it ass with programs like K3B.

KNUT AM offline

KNUT AM, my little shoutcast radio station is down due to two reasons:
  1. I hear nothing out of my speakers. I know how to fix this, it's just that im too damn lazy (kernel is loading the wrong driver)
  2. I don't have enough music. if (Suprnova == "dead") { knut_am == "musicless"};. Im pretty sure I'll find another resource (I really need music for my car (but thats another post)).
So there you have it. I will try to fix these issues so our audience (<1) don't commit suicide.

I am a Fantasy Football Champion, Like My Father Before Me

Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, please welcome the 2004 DMHS BundesLiga Champion: ME. Yes it is true. My plan indeed worked, for I had planned it this way (Crappy regular season record and then in a dramatic comeback, teh chammionship [sic].

DMHS BundesLiga, Fantasy Football 2004
Final Results

I really enjoyed being commish and I hope we do this again next year.

If you are named Carl Willy Gomez, You got PWN

So after coasting through the whole season (2-12) and making the playoffs by default I am now in the in the battle for the DMHS BundesLiga Fantasy Fußball Amerikanisch championship trophy (Which is yet to be agreed upon). It is fair to say I burned Carl. Poor Carl, from number one in the standings to third-or-fourth place. If we were European, he would have won, but no! We are AMERICAN! We Americans have a thing called playoffs! We are not bound to points. Points are for french pussies who don't have the balls to wager everything on one game. God-bless-America. Next week is the championship game. Daniel "penetradorez" Gil vs Knut/Fred "derBlitzkreig" Zedong/Knut. Hes going down, yall!.

If I'm me and you're you, We make a trio out of two

It's the first day of winter break. I am bored out of my fucking mind. My day started early as planned. The coffeemaker started brewing at its scheduled time of 6:55 AM PST. By 7:05 I was enjoying a cup of Don Francisco: Hawaiian Hazelnut (my Christmas present to myself). The computer was on and I was uncompressing "php-5.0.3.tar.bz2". I don't like to compile programs, I'd rather type

"apt-get install php"
Then:
"$ wget http://us2.php.net/get/php-5.0.3.tar.bz2/from/this/mirror
$ tar xvfj php-5.0.3.tar.bz2
$ ./configure
$ make"
But sadly neither Debian nor Ubuntu have a PHP5 binary, and I really want to get into that kewl object oriented PHP all the cool kids on the web are talking about. I'm such a fucking loser.

I got a new project that has nothing to do with computers. It consist of me diving into automotive. No not ricer shit, just plain old cars in general. I really don't care if your Honda can outrun the fucking Roadrunner. All I really care about is that my 1990 Nissan Stanza stops fucking hiccuping every fucking time I hit the gas (It isn't the gas, although I haven't given it any additive... hmm, If anyone reading this has a clue to what it is drop me a line dawg).

I will work on the comments part of this thing tommorow. Today I am bored. Today I play halo 2 to kill time.

good now the template be

So I fix the template. Im vibing these colours. Just some minor text formatting and I will be set. W00t. <- Just an update.

Bienvenido al monitor

I'm Ok, How are you? Thanks for asking, thanks for asking. Ok OK hmm Yeah the template is shit, the content is shit. Welcome back. Please disregard all the small little broken file icons (If youre cool and use firefox or Konqueror/Safari) or the small [X]s (If youre an idiot and use Internet Explorinator), as the fine folks at photodump.com deleted all my files. OK OK thats it. I WILL try to make the template more... better.

The Concert I Regret Missing

RATM at the 2000 DNC

People say you only get once chance in life to do certain things, and if you miss your chance you regret it for life. In 1999, at the height of the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, one of my favorite bands performed for free in the protest area of the DNC: Rage Against The Machine. If I would have known that it was my last chance to see them I would had MTA-ed my way there and enjoyed the show and the soon to follow mini-riot. If I had only known that a couple of months later they would brake up, things would have been different.

My only chance now is that Zack De La Rocha realizes that without the band behind him his rapping sucks, and that the band (now the dreaded audioslave [Free mumia --with love ballads]) take a break from Chris Cornell to go back to their heavey-ass-kicking sound.

One never knows.

$july_24 == "Mein Geburtstag";

So today was (officially still is) my Birthday, One year closer to the end. I celebrated with my usual absence from school on the day of or before my b-day, and with the usual Shakey's Buffet Rush on the day of my b-day. It was a good day. Didn't get to go to the Dodgers game because of my Godparent's visit, but i got $90 for PA (Project Airbag).

Liz gave me a cyber present (no C.S. though :( ):

-Thanks lizzy.

July: The Month Of The Gods

So it is now July, which means that one year has passed since last July, which also means that I am aging. Twenty-four days from today I will uphold my yearly tradition of buying a small pice of cake and a can of soda and enjoy them alone by myself. But otherwise, July is the best month of they year. In four days the nation will be lit up with fireworks, except for in Los Angeles were they are illegal (the hell with the law!). Heres to July! (takes drink of Sunny-D)

Another Bragging Post about Gmail

Once again I continue to brag about Gmail (gee, I wonder whats going to happen when it goes out of beta --public! Oh the Humanity!
NOOOO!!!). I present to you the Gmail welcome messege:
---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Gmail Team
Date: Wed Jun 23 13:28:57 PDT 2004
Subject: Gmail is different. Here's what you need to know.
To: Knut Zedong

First off, welcome. And thanks
for agreeing to help us test Gmail. By now you probably know the key ways in
which Gmail differs from traditional webmail services. Searching instead of
filing. A free gigabyte of storage. Messages displayed in context as
conversations.

So what else is new?

Gmail has many other special features that will become apparent as you use
your account. You'll find answers to most of your questions in our searchable
  help section, which includes
  a Getting Started guide.
You'll find information there on such topics as:

How to use address auto-complete

Setting up filters for incoming mail
Using advanced search options

You may also have noticed some text ads or related links to the right of this
message. They're placed there in the same way that ads are placed alongside
Google search results and, through our AdSense program, on content
pages across
the web. The matching of ads to content in your Gmail messages is performed
entirely by computers; never by people. Because the ads and links are matched
to information that is of interest to you, we hope you'll find them relevant
  and useful.

You're one of the very first people to use Gmail. Your input will help
determine how it evolves, so we encourage you to send your feedback,
suggestions
and questions to us. But mostly, we hope you'll enjoy experimenting with
  Google's approach to email.

  Speedy Delivery,

My Quest to Learn German

I have undertaken the quest to conquer the German language. The process is somewhat easy since I speak english which is somewhat a germanic language. For example there are certain words that don't need a genius to know what they mean in english:
Deutsch:English:
unterunder
uberover
FußballFootball (soccer)
gutgood
Guten MorgenGood Morning
HalloHello
meinmy
namename
istis
Thankfully Wikibooks makes it easy to learn with its German Book. German - Wikibooks After German I might tackle Russian! Comrade!

My adventures with WINE commences
